Electromagnetic Wave Descaling Technology

Current Issues

The circulating water system is a core component of the cooling equipment operation, and its efficiency directly affects the overall operating cost of the plant. However, scale and bacteria are two major challenges facing recirculating water systems, often leading to the following problems:

    • Reduce equipment efficiency: Scale adhesion increases heat exchange resistance, resulting in a decrease in equipment thermal efficiency.
    • Increased energy costs: When heat exchange efficiency decreases, more energy is required to maintain operation, resulting in increased energy consumption.
    • Corrosion and shortened life: Bacterial metabolic products may cause microbial corrosion and damage equipment.
    • Shutdown for maintenance: Severe scaling and biological contamination will force the equipment to shut down for cleaning, affecting production

The main equipment and problems affected by scale and bacterial microorganisms are briefly analyzed as follows:

  1. Condenser

Effect:

The condenser is an important supporting equipment of the steam turbine, which is used to convert steam into liquid water, thereby maintaining the low-pressure operating state of the steam turbine and improving power generation efficiency.

Influence:

Scale: Scale deposited on the surface of the heat exchange tube will reduce the heat transfer efficiency, weaken the condensation effect, and increase steam consumption and energy consumption.

Bacteria: Bacteria and algae growth can cause blockage of heat exchange tubes, increase system resistance and corrosion risk.

  1. Cooling Tower

Effect:

Cooling towers are used to lower the temperature of circulating water, releasing heat into the air through evaporation and heat dissipation, so that the cooling water temperature meets the needs of the circulation system.

Influence:

Scale: Scale deposited on the surface of the filler will reduce the water-gas contact efficiency and affect the heat dissipation effect.

Bacteria: The open operating environment of the cooling tower is prone to breeding bacteria, causing water quality to deteriorate and affecting the cooling effect. At the same time, bacterial metabolites will cause corrosion to the tower body.

  1. Heat Exchanger

Effect:

The heat exchanger is responsible for the heat exchange between the circulating water and other systems, such as preheating of boiler feed water or cooling of other process water.

Influence:

Scale: Scale accumulation on the inner wall of the pipe will seriously hinder heat transfer, resulting in a significant decrease in thermal efficiency.

Bacteria: Biofilm formation increases pipe resistance, reduces heat transfer efficiency, and may corrode heat exchanger materials

Improvement Methods

  • Through the electromagnetic wave water treatment system, it does not rely on chemical reagents to prevent scale deposition, sterilize and kill algae, and solve the scale (mineral scale, biofilm scale) and rust problems in the long term.

Technical Introduction

Calcium and magnesium ions in water produce mineral hard scale under the influence of temperature or pressure changes, which accumulates on equipment and pipelines, affecting heat exchange efficiency and pipeline flow, resulting in reduced production efficiency and increased costs.

The “Electromagnetic Wave Descaling” technology generates continuous high-frequency oscillation signals, which changes the scale from the original hard calcite scale with heat-insulating properties to loose aragonite soft scale, making it impossible for hard scale with high heat-insulating properties to form, maintaining high heat exchange efficiency and water flow for a long time, allowing the equipment to maintain a high-efficiency operating level, improving production efficiency and reducing operating costs.

The “electromagnetic wave descaling” technology applies an electric charge to any particles or bacteria that flow through the ferrite ring of the equipment. The electric charge attracts water molecules to form a “wetting layer” or “hydration layer” around the bacteria, thereby increasing the osmotic pressure inside and outside the cell wall. The pressure difference causes a large number of water molecules to enter the cells, bursting the cells and achieving the purpose of removing moss and bacteria.

The electronic descaling device is installed on the water pipe (metal or PVC). No facilities need to be modified during the process and production operations will not be affected.

Key Benefits

  • Improve heat exchange efficiency: reduce scaling and improve heat exchange efficiency of condensers and other heat exchangers by about 10%~30%;
  • Energy saving and emission reduction: The vacuum degree is increased by about 1%, and the power plant saves millions of RMB in electricity bills each year, reduces the use of chemical agents by 60% to 80%, avoids pollution emissions, and reduces drug costs by tens of millions each year. Large power plants can save about 1 million to 3 million RMB in operating and maintenance costs each year;
  • Reduce cleaning and maintenance costs: Reduce the number of cleaning times by 70% to 80% per year, reduce the risk of equipment corrosion and environmental pollution, and extend the service life of equipment;
