Oil Recovery

Current Issues

The paraffin components in crude oil and mineral produced water (calcium, magnesium, sulfate ions, etc.) are easily precipitated when the pressure and temperature change, and adhere to the pipe wall or equipment surface to form paraffin scale and mineral scale. These are two common sediments in oilfield production and are commonly found in oil well pipelines, gathering pipelines, separation equipment and other areas, which can have a significant impact on oil production, transportation and processing.

Influence:

    • Blockage of pipelines: Mineral deposition will reduce the effective flow cross-section of the pipeline, and in severe cases, lead to transportation interruption.
    • Reduced production efficiency: increased fluid flow resistance, increased energy consumption and operating costs.
    • Equipment wear and tear: causes unstable equipment operation and increases maintenance frequency.

Currently, methods such as adding chemicals, thermal cleaning (high-temperature water or steam), and mechanical cleaning are often used to remove paraffin and mineral scale, but the low efficiency affects production and pollutes the environment.

Improvement Methods

  • Through the electromagnetic wave water treatment system, no chemical reagents are required to prevent the deposition of paraffin and mineral scale, thus solving the problem of scale blockage affecting production in the long term.

Technical Introduction

1. Solution to the paraffin problem

The “Electromagnetic Wave Descaling” technology device applies a 150 kHz electromagnetic signal to the crude oil in the pipeline, causing the paraffin molecules in the crude oil to attract each other and form beads rather than irregular structures that are easily accumulated.

The contact area between the beaded paraffin and the inner wall of the pipeline and equipment is reduced, making it easier to be washed away by the crude oil in the pipeline, greatly reducing the speed at which paraffin accumulates and blocks the pipeline and equipment, allowing the flow to maintain a normal level and significantly extending the maintenance time.

2.Solutions to mineral scale problems

The “Electromagnetic Wave Descaling” technology generates continuous high-frequency oscillation signals, which changes the scale from the original hard calcite scale with heat-insulating properties to loose aragonite soft scale, making it impossible for hard scale with high heat-insulating properties to form, maintaining high heat exchange efficiency and water flow for a long time, allowing the equipment to maintain a high-efficiency operating level, improving production efficiency and reducing operating costs.

The electronic descaling device is installed on the water pipe (metal or PVC). No facilities need to be modified during the process and production operations will not be affected.

Key Benefits

  • Reduce downtime for descaling and maintenance and improve oil recovery efficiency;
  • Reduce maintenance labor and extend equipment service life;
  • No need to use chemicals for cleaning, reducing environmental pollution
